8×8 Musicians for Maui
Artists and musicians from Shangri La’s past 8×8 exhibitions are offering their skills to raise funds and awareness for Maui in the wake of the devastating wildfires.
#shangrila_8x8_23 artist, Raiatea Helm, will be performing as part of the live-streamed Wiwo‘ole Maui Benefit Concert. The concert will be viewable worldwide on August 19, 2023 from 12:30PM – 3:30PM HST on ‘Āina Momona’s website and across participating artists’ social media platforms.
Violinist and #shangrila_8x8_23 alum, Rachel Saul, will be performing with the The Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra for Maui Ola: A Benefit Concert for Maui. Join the live concert on Sunday, August 20, 2023, 5:00PM – 9:00PM at Bishop Museum or tune in via livestream at mele.com, Facebook Live, and all local TV news stations.
One-hundred percent of Maui Ola proceeds will be distributed directly to Maui communities through donation portals, including Maui United Way, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, Hawaiʻi People’s Fund, Ke Aliʻi Pauahi Foundation and Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

Another #shangrila_8x8_23 artist, Ohtoro, is having a release event for his latest album, Univibes, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Maui Humane Society:
#shangrila_8x8_22 artist, Big Mox, and Shangri La’s own Associate Curator of Programs & Social Practice, Navid Najafi (Illnomadic), will be performing as part of the Maui Rebuilt – Maui Relief Jam. Join them and many other artists at Tropics Restaurant & Craft House on August 19th at 9:00PM. 100% of proceeds from the event will be donated to the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.
