Hauʻoli Lā Hānau, Queen Liliʻuokalani! Queen Liliʻuokalani was born Lydia Liliʻu Loloku Walania Kamakaʻeha on September 2, 1838. In honor of her 185th birthday, we are sharing He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi, written by Queen Liliʻuokalani in 1866 upon the request of Lot Kapuāiwa (Kamehameha V) performed by Raiatea Helm accompanied by Jeff Peterson as part of her #8x8_shangrila_23 piece.

Did you know that September is also Hawaiian History Month?

A great way to learn more about the history of Queen Queen Liliʻuokalani and the Hawaiian Kingdom is to visit Iolani Palace and Bishop Museum.
