ASADI is Shangri La’s next Artist-in-Residence

Shangri La is excited to announce ASADI as Shangri La’s next Artist-in-Residence. ASADI is a Persian American Electronic Music Producer & Performance Artist from Columbus, Ohio. He is known for his unique SWANA influence and impressive performance ability. In the studio, his knowledge of Persian composition uniquely activates a sense of timelessness that the world can resonate with, and his instruments play a strong role in illustrating such emotion. They include the Persian setartardaf, and Italian mandolin. He brings these delicate sounds to life when performed with his drum machine, in which he effortlessly triggers his entire rhythm section completely live on 16 electronic pads.

ASADI will be joined by Xye a vocalist, lyricist, and composer of Greek, Russian, and Armenian descent, celebrated for her unique fusion of classical and electronic sounds to craft enchanting narratives of grief, war, and love. Xye will be joining ASADI for his live performances at Capitol Modern (@capitolmodern) on April 20th and Shangri La on April 27th.During the Residency, ASADI will also bring his unique sound design into dialogue with ukulele virtuoso and songwriter, Taimane Gardner. Over the course the Residency, they will be working on an original composition that they will perform live at Capitol Modern on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
