A’aru // Field of Reeds @ THE Luis De Jesus Los Angeles gallery

We are excited to share that the esteemed Luis De Jesus Los Angeles gallery is currently exhibiting Sherin Guirguis‘ highly anticipated mixed-media exhibition, “A’aru // Field of Reeds: Gathering.” Guirguis’ latest works seamlessly extend her exploration of A’aru // Field of Reeds Part I and II, which was exhibited at the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) and the Shangri La Museum as part of her 2023 Residency.

This marks a significant milestone in the artist’s career, her first solo exhibition in Los Angeles since 2018, and her inaugural collaboration with the renowned gallery. Running from November 4 through December 23, 2023, this exhibition promises to have the same transformative and meditative impact in the Los Angeles community as it did in Honolulu.

The inspiration for Guirguis’ stunning pieces comes from the profound experiences she shared during the challenging days of the COVID-19 lockdown. Alongside a diverse group of BIPOC female artists, poets, writers, and activists, guided by the talented Artist Amitis Motevalli, they embarked on a transformative journey through the pages of Farid ud-Din Attar’s 13th-century Sufi epic poem, “The Conference of the Birds.” In these sacred verses, they found solace, wisdom, and a deep sense of unity.
